St. Charls Ashram, Panchkui
Fr. Charls, the pioneer missionary to the Bhils was very pleased with the Prabhudasi Sisters’ work in Thandla. Hence on 4th November 1928, when he opened his new mission in Rambapur (Panchkui), he invited the PSA Sisters to come and help him. This was to be their first independent venture.
A young Indian Lady, Miss Grace D’Lima, was the providential instrument in founding this Congregation in the Church. Grace D’Lima came to Alleppey at the request of Fr. Alphonsus OCD to establish a school in his parish. While there Grace was impressed by the exemplary and self- sacrificing life of the Carmelite fathers. With the blessings of Bishop Henri Caumont, our Revered Founder four sisters were sent by Mother Fortunat on 4th November to open the new House. Two sisters taught in the school and looked after the orphan children in the boarding, while two sisters went to the surrounding villages and instructed the Bhil women.
